CHANGE THE WORLDOHSU Lecture Series and Resource Fair OHSU and OMSI will proudly present a free Lecture Series in conjunction with the Body World 3 Exhibit at OMSI event. Six lectures will be held at 7PM in the OHSU Auditorium beginning in May with two focusing on bioethics. Over the next four months lectures and panel discussion will focus on biomedicine. Before and after each lecture presentation there will be time for attendees to talk to the experts, visit displays in the lobby and Great Hall of the Auditorium. The resource fair will begin at 6:00 - 7:00 and continue again after the lectures from 8:00 to 9:00. Please click here to register The series will kick-off with a fascinating talk on the history of how we.ve learned about the human body and how that has changed both medicine and art. This will be followed by a discussion on the various cultural views of the human body and its uses, especially in medicine and teaching. The next four in the series will present OHSU experts discussing the latest breakthroughs in health and medicine for all Oregonians.children, teens, adults, and seniors. Anyone who is interested in the most current health research information and how it can change each and every Oregonian should attend. Tuesday, May 15 - A is for Anatomy: The Art and Science of Human Dissection by Karmen Schmidt, PhD., OHSU, introduced by Nancy Stueber, President of OMSI and Dr. Lesley Hallick, Provost of OHSU. Tuesday, May 29 - The Body: A Cultural and EthicalConsideration by Dr. Peter Boghossian , PSU, introduced by Leslie Garcia, OHSU. Tuesday, June 19 - Change the World, One Child at a Time by a panel of OHSU experts: Drs. Dolores Orfanakis, (community pediatrician), Jeff Koh (Doernbecher), and Prashant Gagneja (SOD); introduced by Nancy Stueber, President of OMSI Tuesday, July 17 - Change the World, One Teen at a Time by a panel of OHSU experts: Drs. Michelle Berlin, (Women.s Health), Linda Stork (Pediatrics), and Bonnie Nagel (Psychiatry) introduced by Chloe Hauser, host of PDX 49.s Entertainment Zone (invited) Tuesday, August 21 - Change the World, One Adult at a Time by a panel of OHSU experts: Drs. Brian Druker (Cancer), Sonja Conner (Nutrition), and Jonathan Emens (Sleep) introduced by Dr. Jeff Stewart (SOD) Tuesday, September 18 - Change the World, One Senior at a Time by a panel of OHSU experts: Drs. Jeffrey Kaye, (Aging and Alzheimers), Joanna Cain (Womens Health) and Robert Johnson (SOD), introduced by Paul Linman, media personality. The lectures are geared to the general public and will feature researchers and practicing clinicians. The goal is to show the latest and best research in biomedicine and how that directly affects the well-being of each and every Oregonian, of all ages. |
