For more information on this Lecture Series click here The OMSI exhibition, which opens June 7 for a limited engagement, represents the Northwest premier of the unique exhibition featuring more than 200 authentic organs and 25 whole-body specimens or "plastinates." These specimens of real human bodies and organs are preserved through a process called plastination that involves replacing bodily fluids and fats with fluid plastics that are hardened. The polymer preservation method, developed and patented by Germany-based anatomist Dr. Gunther von Hagens, makes anatomical display possible.
